Simply Pastel All Occasion Handmade Card

Simple-All-Ocassion-Card      Simple-All-Ocassion-Card2

This week, I just have a very basic all occasion card that can be changed many ways to suit your needs. For this one, I chose pastels, but of course you can choose whatever papers you have handy. I like to use a color wheel to see how to mix and match colors! Another favorite place to find colors that mix or match is to Google "Color Scheme Designer".  What inspires you for your projects?

Wishing you all the best for a crafty New Year! :)

Red, White, & Blue Star Birthday Handmade Card

Red-White-Blue-Birthday-Card   Red-White-Blue-Birthday-Card-Inside

My son's birthday is right near Christmas, and I like him to have an actual birthday the same as everyone else. So this year, I decided to make him a red, white, and blue card. This card is also sophisticated enough for a grown-up boy :). Even though I should take more time to show the insides of my cards, as you can see in the pictures above, I just try to make a reflection of the outside, but simple enough and small enough that there's room for a nice greeting or note in there too. Follow along below for all the step by step instructions.

Simple Snowman Handmade Gift Tag

snowman-gift-tag

This  snowman idea caught my attention on Pinterest this week as I was browsing :). Every snowman I've ever seen has been stacked upright before, so the idea of a snowman looking up is just so cute! What a fun idea for Christmas gift tags or any winter time gift. I know we have three birthdays in our family, two are right before Christmas and one soon after, so this is a fun and different gift tag to make the outside of the gift special too!

I stamped and embossed my own background onto the tag, then cut my snowman body out at 2", 1.75", and 1.5" circles. The carrot nose, branch arms and scarf were cut freehand and the tiny pieces were glued using the Tombow Glue Pen. Join me in the video for complete instructions.

Pine Tree Noel Handmade Card

Pine-Tree-Noel-Card

I love pine trees, so I decided to incorporate them into a Christmas card for this year. To make my trees more "Christmas-y", I used Stampendous Winter Wonderland embossing powder. It's mostly white with silver flecks in it. Believe it or not, I got the beautiful ribbon at the Dollar Tree! It's very thin, and almost papery, but it is very beautiful and works very well for cards. You can follow along below with the video for all the details. I have just barely had my voice come back, so sorry in advance for the raspy voice :)

P.S.: The tree stamps I used are:

Before The Snow by Penny Black

Christmas Evergreen by Inkadinkado

Maple Leaf Thanksgiving Card or Table Place Card

maple-leaf-thanksgiving-card

Here's a simple and fast card that you can take to your Thanksgiving dinner hosts, or you can use at your own table as name place cards! This one just takes cardstock, 2 patterned papers, 2 maple leaf die cuts, glimmer mist, ribbon, and a little tag that you can put a greeting or a name on. If you want to add a bit of texture to your leaves like I did for mine, you will need an embossing stylus and a mouse pad. The leaves can be used plain too, so no worries if you don't have a stylus & mouse pad :). Follow along with the video below for complete instructions.

Teacup Get Well Handmade Card

teacup-get-well-card

A hot cuppa can make a body feel so much better, just like the loving thoughts of a friend. This week's card is a fun and whimsical way to give a little lovin' to someone who's not feeling so great! I used a Cricut cup die cut from Kate's ABC's cut at 3.5", but you could use a stamp or a similar die cut. As long as you can fit a tea bag in the top, it will work. Follow along with the video for  this fun project! (Alternatively, you can make a whole card shaped like a tea bag from the Hot Off the Press A Cuppa Template!)

Embossed Thank You Handmade Card

embossed-thank-you-card

This week's project from Dinglefoot's Scrapbooking is a super-easy and time-saving card! The front panel is embossed, but since it's the same color as the background card, it looks like you took a ton of time to emboss just that piece of the the card front. Adding a little bit of ribbon and some scrap pieces of black and tan paper finished this card in record time!

Sunburst Handmade Card Idea

Sunburst-Card

I've wanted to make a sunburst card for a while, but never decided to learn how until recently. I was afraid it would be a long, drawn-out process and I like quick cards! Much to my surprise, it was a very simple and fast project. Follow along and you'll soon have your very own sunburst card! It can easily be adapted for a man just by choosing more earth toned papers. Try Graphic 45 papers!

Stitched Burlap Accent Handmade Card

finished-card

Sometimes just one little extra accent can add a distinctive touch to a project. On this card, I added 3 burlap stitches to the tag. The eye of the needle wasn't quite large enough to easily fit the burlap twine through, so I separated the strands into two pieces before starting.

The neat postage stamp tag is one that I cut at 3" from the Cricut Accent Essentials cartridge. I inked both the postage stamp and the white cardstock with a magenta ink, using the Ranger Ink Blending Tool.

I hope you enjoy this project! Thanks for stopping by!

Fall Ribbon Handmade Card

fall-ribbon-card

This is a fun card to make just for a greeting, or it would be neat for an invitation to a Harvest Party! I used a cream card, orange-red cardstock for the front, a piece of patterned paper (3.5" long and 4" wide), a border punch, sheer ribbon, metallic maple leaf brad, die-cut letters (Cricut Ornamental Iron 2, font, 1"). For adhesives, I used a permanent glue stick, 1/8" Scor-Tape, and a Tombow Glue Pen for the skinny die-cut letters. Thanks for stopping by!

Pink, Lace & Butterfly Thank You Card

pink-thank-you-card-

This is a very simple Thank You card with a fun paper clip accent. I used a 3" tag that I cut on the Cricut with the Elegant Edge cartridge, 2 butterflies - 1 @ 3/4" and 1 at 1/2" --- I used the Cricut Picturesque cartridge,  a small tag punch, 2 pieces of lace, adhesive pearls, and a paper clip.  Once you have the pieces assembled, it's a very quick card to put together. Thanks for stopping by!

Telescoping Stamped Panel Card Technique

telescoping-stamped-card

The name sounds a bit strange, but I wasn't sure what else to call this :). On this card, all the stamping is done at once, and it's super simple and fast, even though it might not look that way.

The background card is a white, A2 card (8.5" x 5.5", folded in half)

Then we will need some black and white cardstock cut so that each white panel can be matted on a black background panel. So I cut mine like this:

Black - 4" x 5 1/4"

White - 3  3/4" x 5"

Black - 3" x 4"

White - 2  3/4" x 3 7/8"

Black - 2" x 3"

White - 1  7/8" x 2  7/8"

The stamping comes next -- follow along on the video for all the instructions, or download the pdf file here: Telescoping Stamped Panel Card Technique

Easy Embossed Zebra Stripes

tiger-stripes

I was experimenting with trying to come up with whimsical zebra stripes and happened upon this idea to make different widths of striped on my paper. I made this pattern with rubber bands and silver embossing powder.

I had seen someone make a pattern on their paper that was very different than this one, but their use of rubber bands gave me a new idea. I just wrapped rubber bands around an old ink bottle I had. It is smallish, maybe 1.5" around, but I'm thinking that other sized bottles would also work well. If you have an ink brayer, it might be easier because you would have a handle to keep your fingers out of the ink. Thanks for stopping by!

Create Faux Mulberry Paper From Tissue Paper

mulberry-paper-technique

This is a simple and fun technique to cheaply add some texture to your scrapbook pages, tags, and cardmaking projects. I always save gift bags and also the tissue paper if it isn't ripped up, and this is the cheap stuff from the Dollar Tree. I used Inkadinkado's Gem Stone Insect Stamps for the butterfly, Red Dragon Embossing Powder,  a sentiment stamp, Thinking of You, and 3 black mini brads.

The card background is white, then I have a piece of red cardstock that is 4.25" x 3.75", and another white piece of cardstock that is 4" x 3.5". For details, you can watch the video below, or download a pdf ebook here: Create Faux Mulberry Paper With Tissue Paper.

Confetti Border Handmade Card

confetti-border-card2

How about a totally different look for your cards and scrapbook pages? I used a bunch of scraps and punched lots of circles to make my own confetti. You could use an office punch or smaller circle punches too, to get the same type of confetti I made. But don't stop there! Think of all the little punches you have, and even the negative spaces from die cuts, and all of those make great confetti too! I used a tombow adhesive runner to attach my confetti, but scor-tape works perfectly too.

Follow along below with the video and make your own confetti border!

Emboss Resist Technique for Cards, Tags, & Scrapbook Pages

emboss-resist-ink-technique

This is a fun technique that makes a great background for cards, tags, and scrapbooks. You can use just about any stamp or color of ink you have for the technique. I used Ranger Distress Inks, Inkadinkado's Utopiary Stamps (the big tree), and Tim Holtz Urban Tapestry Stamp Set (background splotches). The most important of all is Clear Embossing Ink and Clear Embossing Powder. Other miscellaneous items that I used were a heat tool, a foam ink blending tool, and then to finish this project as a card, I used a birthday stamp to make a tag, 2 leaves, and a piece of twine for the bow.

Once Upon A Time Wedding Scrapbook Page

once-upon-a-time-scrapbook-page

A lot of people start scrapbooking when there's a major life event such as a wedding or a birth. This is a simple wedding scrapbook page that anyone can make. I did use my Cricut to cut the shaped photo mat and the "Once Upon a Time", but you can use a square photo mat or any other letters such as chipboard or stickers to personalize your scrapbook page with names and dates.

I used a doily, lace, and adhesive pearls on this layout, and also used Old Paper Distress Ink to age the doily and Iridescent Gold Glimmer Mist so the "Once Upon A Time" wouldn't be as white. Thanks for stopping by!

Le Romantique Rose Scrapbook Page

Le-Romantique-Rose-Scrapbook-Page

Here's a simple scrapbook page that I made from cream cardstock, lace, a rose rub-on, and 3 designs of Graphic 45's Papers -

Celebration (for the "ribbon" under the title)

My Beloved (the brown paper)

Enamored Embrace (pearl strings).

The rose rub-on was placed on a piece of cream cardstock that I aged with Old Paper Distress Ink and then sprayed with Tattered Angels Gold Glimmer Mist. The back can be used for a journal mat or another smaller picture.

The paper sizes from back to front are:

Cream background - 12" x 12"

My Beloved (brown layer) - 11.5" x 11.5"

Cream layer - 10" x 10"

Enamored Embrace - 9.75" x 9.75"

Photo Mat - 4.5" x 6.5"

Rub-on/Journal Mat - 3.5" x 5"

Ribbon - 12" long

Title Letters - Cricut Storybook 1.5"

10 Minute Family Scrapbook Page

family-scrapbook-page1    family-scrapbook-page

This is a very simple scrapbook page, and to me, the hardest part is picking out the papers I want to use. For this page, I used a white piece of cardstock as a solid base to attach my other papers. Then I used 3 coordinating papers (paper pads or paper collections are great for this because the papers already go together), 3 flowers, a tag and another piece of white cardstock for the photo mats and letters. If you're having trouble deciding on what colors of papers to use, a silly rule I use is to squint at my pics and pic out the colors that stand out. It sounds weird, but it works :).

The letters I cut with Cricut Storybook at 2", but of course you can use stickers or chipboard to accomplish the same thing. The tag was a sticker, and I cut a 3" tag from Cricut Accent Essentials at 3", put the sticker on it and added ribbon and a heart brad at the top. For glue, I just used double-sided Scor-tape and a permanent glue stick.

Thanks for stopping by!

Make Flowers From Hearts

flower-fron-hearts-card

The past few weeks, I've been using plain shapes to make other embellishments. This week is no different. I want to show you how you can use a heart punch to make flowers. And these flowers are dimensional and look great with plain or double-sided papers. These are great for cards, scrapbook covers, package toppers and lots of other projects. Of course you can vary the side and make teensy tiny flowers or great big ones like I did this week. My heart punch was about 1.5", so the flower is approximately 3". I also added a doily, a small flower for a center, and adhesive gems to finish off the card.  Enjoy!

Quilted Card With Paper Squares

quilt-card

I love all sorts of crafts, but one I haven't tried is quilting. It's a shame really since it's something my grandmother did very well, but I already know I would never have the patience.

The design for this card was made using punched squares. I love to make plain shapes into other things, and this one is so simple! You can even change this design by curling back some of the outside corners and other similar ideas. I think it looks very much like a pinwheel even though we're not cutting any of the squares into triangles. Enjoy!

Make a beautiful flower from any circle punch!

flower-from-circles

Would you believe these cute flowers are made from circle punches? I love any kind of paper folding, and making my own embellishments makes me happy! As a bonus,  I can make it the colors I need instead of having to make my project match premade flowers. :)

On the video, I will show you how to make the scalloped circle flower, but the plain circle flower was made exactly the same way. It's just a bit harder to show with having used double sided paper and a smaller circle. Grab 9 circle punchies and join me for the video!

Zig Zag Fold Handmade Card

zig-zag-cardCard-inside

I love this unique card! I found a written tutorial on a German site, and with the power of Google Translate, I was able to figure it out :). This card not only has unique folds, but it also stands up nicely on its own, and includes a tag in the middle that you can lift up for a really neat message area.

I used DCWV's Once Upon A Time stack for decorating my card. I love that stack, but especially the castle paper :). I also used cream cardstock to construct the card, a border punch, a pencil & ruler, Scor-Pal, and glue.  I hope you enjoy this project!

Box Pleat Border Card

Box-Pleat-Card

I love the idea of having a different kind of border other than a punched or lace border on my cards. I saw a tutorial on making the box pleats, but it was kind of hard to understand with just the pictures and a written explanation, so I hope a video might help you now that I got it figured out :).

This would make an excellent border for scrapbook pages too, you could just tuck the next length of paper underneath to continue on with your design.

The box pleat scrapbook paper is cut at 1.5" wide x 9"  long. This is enough to go across the width an A4 card (4.25"). I added a doily, tag, bow and lace to finish off this card. Hope you enjoy this project!

Accordion Pocket Mini Scrapbook Album

accordion-pocket    accordion-pocket-inside

This cute little Accordion Pocket Mini Album is super simple, with the accordion part inside made from 2 business sized envelopes....or if you're especially crafty, you could make your own envelopes in coordinating colors :). You can't get any simpler and faster and this is great for just a stand-alone album or added to a scrapbook page as an interactive element. I made a closure for mine with Velcro and added a simple decoration to the outside with lace, labels (I used Spellbinders Label 6) and a flower. Add some little mats with pictures and so on for the pockets, and you're finished!

Cricut You're My Anchor Man's Card

youre-my-anchor

This is a fun and easy Cricut card, but you could easily substitute letter stickers and Google an anchor, print and cut it out for his card. I also used some twine, a white card, a patriotic striped paper and some blue cardstock. I used a permanent glue stick and hot glue to put the card together. See the video below for complete instructions. Thanks so much for stopping by!

Antique Car Handmade Father's Day Card

dad-card

I know lots of dads love antique cars, and to be honest, I do too! It's hard for me to think of ideas for guy's cards, but usually an antique car, tractor, or something of the sort will make a very nice card for a guy. I found this 1956 Mercury online, and you can go to my website to grab the image for yourself: Antique Car Handmade Father's Day Card.

I used a pearl paper for the card, black eyelet ribbon, and to cut the nice shape around the car image, I used the Spellbinder's Nestabilities Labels #6, the largest one. I also chalked around the edges of the car die cut with black chalk, although ink would also work well. I hope this card idea is useful to you. Thanks for stopping by!

Thank You Vellum Flowers Card

thank-you-flowers-card

I like the look of embellishments that are somewhat translucent. This swirly paper from DCWV Luxury Stack is so beautiful on it's own, that I didn't want the whole front of the card covered with another paper, so I chose to emboss some flowers onto vellum and then place them on the card. To make my flowers, I used clear embossing ink and silver embossing powder. The other supplies I used were scissors, small zots, adhesive gems, silver  Thank You stickers, and two flower stamps, Open Almond Petals and Flower Within A Flower. Quick, simple, elegant.

Happy Clear Embossed Card

happy-clear-embossed-card

This is a super simple clear embossed card. The paper needs to be smooth cardstock, and I used clear embossing ink and clear embossing powder. It almost looks like the flowers are  clear plastic, but the clear embossing powder just enhances the color of the paper that you stamp on. I used the open almond petals stamp for these flowers, and adhesive pearls for accents. The video below will give more details. Thanks for stopping by!

Simple Reflection Stamped Card

Reflection-stamped-card

This is a very simple reflection stamped card, using only one ink for both the light and the darker image (I used Brushed Corduroy Distress Ink). I used a tall swirl stamp, but this would be neat with any image that would look great with a reflection, such as a simple flower or branch.

I also used a small greeting stamp, a bow, a brown swirly paper from DCWV Luxury Stack, and the brown paper on the left side of the card is a white-core paper that I embossed and then sanded to bring out the design.

This is a very fast and simple card that can be used for any occasion. Thanks so much for stopping by!

Baby Button Handmade Card

baby-button-card

Here's a super quick card for any new baby! This card would be really cute if you knew the name of the baby and could substitute that for the b-a-b-y. I used my Cricut to make the letters with the Nate's ABC's at 1.5", but it is a very generic font and easy to find something similar, or even use stickers. I also used the largest button I could find, adhesive jewels, and the card background is Die Cuts With A View Luxury Stack. I love those papers so much! They have a pearl sheen, so it makes every project look fancy.

Hope you enjoy this quick project! Thanks for stopping by :).

Gold Embossed Mother's Day Card

mothers-day-card-13

I was playing around with dry embossing at the beginning of last week. I made this gold embossed panel with a brass stencil and Iridescent Gold Glimmer Mist, but then just couldn't figure out how to incorporate it into my card. After walking away from it for a day or two, I came back, and the idea popped into my head to use pearl paper, lace and a flower, and it worked for what I wanted!  My flower is tall, but you could use a flat flower if you wanted to mail this type of card.  Hope you enjoy it!

How To Make a Tassel & Graduation Cap Card

graduation-tassel-card

It's that time of year when there are graduations galore! Instead of getting a generic card for the grad, how about making one that matches their school colors?

It's super simple to make a tassel, and I'll show you just how easy and fast it is.

Other than that, you only need a 5 x 5 card, a 4 x 4 square in the school color(s) (if there are several colors,  you can make a few squares, each slightly smaller), and a smaller piece of black paper to mat to the 4 x 4 square. I also made a little tag with the Graduation Congratulations, and used 3 silver mini brads to embellish it. 2 were for the tag, and one attaches the tassel to the mortar board. Join me in the video below to make tassels for your cards!

Double Pocket Fold Card

double-fold-card   double-fold-inside

This is such a fun and easy card to make! It's made of just one sheet of 8.5" x 11" paper, and double-sided paper works great because you will have complimentary colors on your card. You can put gift cards, pictures, book marks or any other little things in the pockets. It's a little treasure card :)

I used Echo Park's Mother Nature paper, then put a small stamped card and a bookmark in my card pockets. For the front, I just put a bow & a paper flower. This is a quick and easy card -- hope you enjoy it!

Wedding or Special Occasion Handmade Card

wedding-card        wedding-card-inside

I made this multi-layered card for a wedding. It was brown, beige, then 2 layers of pearl paper. I printed the verse for the inside of the card right onto my cardstock with my inkjet printer.

The butterfly was from the Cricut Picturesque cartridge, and I cut both the brown & cream layer at 1.5". The cream top layer of the butterfly was sprayed with Iridescent Gold Glimmer Mist, and I put ribbon corners on the front top layer and the inside verse layer and then added white adhesive pearls on each corner & the center of the butterfly. You can follow along in the video below for all the details :).

This is the verse inside the card:

The blessings of the Lord
We pray will not depart
But remain forever more
In both your tender hearts
The Lord will bless you
And He will keep you safe
He will watch over you
And guard you in your ways
His face will shine upon you
And His blessings will increase
His love will see you through
And give you perfect peace

Simple Double Bow Tutorial

double-bow-tut

I love the look of double bows! I had been wanting to make these, but it took me a while to find a way to make them easily and without a special gadget or having to sew and glue. This way of making them is so simple and requires only a 20" ribbon and your very own fingers :).

I think it would be difficult to write out the instructions, so hopefully watching the video below will make it simple enough to follow so you can make your own. After you make a few of these, it takes just 10-20 seconds to make them! Enjoy :).

Teddy Bear Baby Card

baby-boy-card

This week, I made a simple baby card for a boy. Of course the colors can be changed for a girl and teddy bears work for any little cutie :).

I used a teddy bear stamp that I got a long time ago, so I'm sorry that I can't tell you where I got it, but any teddy bear stamp or die cut would work great. Even another animal would be cute, such as an elephant from Inkadinkado's Baby Boy Stamps or a giraffe from Inkadinkado's Baby Girl Stamps.  I also had a button that I tied ribbon through, and another stamp with a baby saying that I from Hobby Lobby. This card is so fast & easy! Thanks for stopping by!

He Is Risen Easter Card

Easter-He-Is-Risen-Card

This card was simple & fast to make. You can go to my website and download the sheet of sayings for this card and the Thumb Bunny Loves You Card. It is a Microsoft Word file, so you can edit it or re-size as you need. Click the link to get the Word Document: Easter Card Sayings

I also used a Gold Cross Dazzles Sticker and 2 gold roses. The Gold Roses came in a bunch that I got for .50 at Hobby Lobby. I just snipped two off to hot glue to the front of the card.  Thanks for stopping by!

Thumb Bunny Loves You Easter Card

thumb-bunny-card

This is a cute card idea I found on Pinterest, and I changed it up a bit. You can get the Thumb Bunny Loves You on a word document on my website: Easter Card Sayings.

All you need is the printout, cardstock, an ink pad to make the fingerprint, a pen to make the face, and optional googly eyes and a tiny pompon for the tail. Easy, fast & kids love it!

Bridal Shower Handmade Card

bridal-shower-card

I had a bridal shower to go to this weekend, and this old fashioned lady image reminded me of the bride :). So I just had to think of a way to use it in my card. You can visit Bridal Shower Card and save the image to your computer to print for yourself.

I colored in her hat with Cotton Candy Stickles and added a few clear gems. I also sprayed the image with Iridescent Gold Glimmer Mist, which can't be seen in the photo, but just added a nice glimmery touch to go along with the shiny ribbon and pearlized cardstock I used for the base card.

Thanks for stopping by!

Simple Sympathy Handmade Card

simple-sympathy=card

It's not fun having the occasion to make a sympathy card, yet those times come and I needed one for this past week. I  have experienced that gratefulness several time over of knowing that friends are helping bear your sorrow through this simple gesture.

I like the neutral approach to Sympathy cards, so I chose gray and white for this card. I used a small flower punch, adhesive pearls, a tag, and a sympathy stamp. I also embossed the front of the card with a swirls design so it wouldn't be too plain. I hope you enjoy this easy card!
