Another easy Christmas card...

Here's another easy -to-make Christmas card that you can whip together in a hurry! You will need:
1 red paper flower (2")
2 small red paper flowers (1")
1 green leaf
1 "joy" die cut
A4 red card
Beige Cardstock
Patterned Paper
Vellum Paper
Glue Stick
Glue Dots
3 mini gold brads
Instructions:
Cut a piece of beige cardstock slightly smaller than the front of your card and glue to the front (5.25" x 4").
Cut a piece of patterned paper (mine was a Santa Postage Stamp pattern), slightly smaller than the beige card (5" x 3.75") and glue to the front.
Cut a piece of vellum paper for layering on top of the patterned paper (4.5" x 3") and glue that on top of the patterned paper.
Place brads in the middle of the flowers and arrange them in the top left of the card along with the green leaf. I find it easier to attach the flowers with glue dots. It gives them a nice 3-D look, and the glue dots also stick better than any glue I've ever tried. The flowers I used were Prima, and already had the gold glitter on them.
For the "Joy" die cut, if you don't have one (I made mine with the Cricut), either write it on with a thicker tip pen, or stamp and cut it out. Either way, you will have an easy card that makes a beautiful statement. Find more free card patterns here: http://www.dinglefoot.com/how-to-make-a-handmade-greeting-card/

Christmas Elf Word Art..

Here's what I've been working on recently :o). Cute little elfin word art for you digital scrapbooking projects! Actually, they are in 300 dpi, so they're just perfect for printing too if you don't do digital scrapbooking. They are also great for your personal websites. You can use them for anything, as long as you don't sell what you make with them. All 51 words are on a transparent background and are a very generous size so you can easily re-size them without compromising the quality of the graphics. (I had to re-size the word "Christmas" because it's too big for this screen.)
I hope all of you have a wonderful holiday season & get to spend time with your family and friends. :o)

Save those Cricut mats
I have no idea who came up with this, but a friend shared it with me...when your mat is used up and about ready to discard, try this instead. Take a baby wipe and wipe it off really, really well, getting all those little itsy bitsy pieces of paper and whatever else off (doesn't have to be perfect though). When it's dry, take a ZIG glue pen with a wide tip (they're blue and can be found in most craft stores), and make your mat wet all over, coat it REALLY well. Set your mat aside and allow it to dry overnight. Believe it or not, in the morning, your mat will be perfect for many, many more cricut cuts! It is very sticky and this process can be done over and over. I haven't thrown one out yet, but I suppose it will happen eventually. So, save that $12.00 that you would use for a new mat and buy more paper LOL.

Shabby Butterfly Card
I have always loved the shabby look on card and scrapbooks, so here is a card that I made in honor of all of you that love the shabby look, like I do :o)
This card is a little more involved, but worth the time! You will need:
Brown Textured Cardstock w/ Beige Underside, White Core (DCWV)
Heidi Swapp Edge Distresser
Jeweled Brad
Butterfly Stamp or sticker
Beige Cardstock
Swirl Stamp (Rhonna Farrer)
Small Flower Punch
3 micro buttons (All Dressed Up)
3 Small Bling Jewels
3 Small Flower Punchies
Silver Embossing Powder
White Acrylic Paint & Brush
"It's Your Day" small stamp
Foam Pop Dot
Sandpaper
Red Ink Pad
Paper Glue
Instructions:
Make an A4 Sized card out of the brown textured cardstock with the fold to the left.
Cut another piece of the brown cardstock the exact size of the front of the card. Sand the edges a little on the top and side, exposing the white core of the cardstock.
Take white acrylic paint and brush back and forth on the front of the paper, not going to the edges. Set aside to dry for a few minutes.
Take another small piece of the brown cardstock and tear a piece the length of the front of the card, making it roughly an inch or two wide. Sand the left edge of the paper and then pounce the torn edge of the paper into your red ink pad. Take your edge distresser and tear up the torn edge a little. Also use the distresser on the painted piece of cardstock on all edges. Glue the torn piece of cardstock to the left edge of the painted cardstock. Then adhere the whole topper onto the card.
Stamp a swirl in red right on top of the painted part of cardstock. Adhere three small flower punchies on the swirl. Glue a tiny button into the center of each of the flowers and also put three bling jewels here and there on the swirl design.
Fold the right top corner of the brown cardstock and place a jeweled brad through it.
Stamp a butterfly onto beige cardstock and emboss with silver embossing powder. Trim closely around the butterfly and place it on the top part of the torn cardstock.
Stamp "It's Your Day" onto a piece of beige cardstock and cut a rectangle around the design. Adhere below the butterfly with a pop dot.
Whew! That was a lot of work, but I think you will be very pleased with how it turns out and you will get a lot faster every time you make this one. Happy crafting!

Iris Folded Shoe Pattern
This is the first iris folded pattern that I made. I was just an experiment, or I would have used a more complimentary paper to cut the pattern out. Here is the front when the pattern was completed.
It's hard to tell, but the pattern is completely backwards while you are working on it, then when you are finished and turn it over, it looks just perfect. That wasn't so bad for a first project, eh? Usually when I start something new, it doesn't turn out quite right the first couple of times. If you want to give iris folding a try, you can get this pattern here: http://www.irisfolding.circleofcrafters.com/shoepattern.html
They also have instructions on how to do iris folding. Circle of Crafters is a really neat site with lots of free patterns for all sorts of paper crafts. Happy crafting!

Incorporating Iris Folding Into Card Making
I saw iris folding somewhere in my internet wanderings, and thought it looked really neat, but looked difficult. In my quest to find out how to do it, I found a website called Circle of Crafters. There I found instructions on how to begin and lots of free patterns. It turned out that it's one of the easiest crafts I've ever tried! You can use paper or ribbon to make the designs. It's such a simple technique to learn and it goes really fast! As long as you can cut 1" strips of paper and fold them (doesn't even have to be that neat!), have lots of tape and can count numbers in order, you can do iris folding too. (I've become an addict....) You'll be left with a stunning design that will make any serious cardmaker drool! I made the card below using satin ribbon and when I presented it to the bride-to-be at her wedding shower, the card ended up being passed around instead of the gifts :o).
This card, I used satin ribbon for the ring and the white diamond part, I used sheer ribbon. Then I outlined the diamond in little jewel strips (I just cut off little sections so I could keep the octagon shape, then I placed a jeweled brad in the center of the diamond part. Add some outline stickers, and you're done! The iris folded card part was backed with another piece of cardstock so I could attach it to the front of the actual card, so it's actually a card topper. The ring pattern, I got at Revive! Iris Folding. It's from the wedding set. I will post more pictures later of what the back looks like. It's a mess! -- but the front looks wonderful when you're finiahed :o) Hope I've peaked your curiosity to try a new craft! As always, happy crafting!

Using Clear Acrylic Stamps
I hated those smeared, the off-center greetings I used to stamp (so frustrating), not getting the ink all on the paper....so when I decided to try acrylic stamps, I got hooked really fast. Since they are clear, you can see exactly where you are stamping and can even stamp again in the same place if something goes wrong and your design doesn't turn out the way you wanted.
To start, you will need a clear acrylic block. This is the surface that you attach the acrylic stamp to. Acrylic stamps have a cling surface built right into them. Simply peel the acrylic stamp off the plastic sheet it comes on and place it on the acrylic block. No fuss at all!
When you are finished using your acrylic stamp, simply wash in soap and water and return it to the clear plastic sheet it came on.
The acrylic stamps are such a huge improvement over what we used to have to work with. They're so simple to use and simple to store. You can even punch holes along the side of the plastic sheet they come on and place them into a binder. Happy stamping!

Making a Greeting Card with HOTP Diamond Folds Template #2

Have you tried the Hot Off the Press Templates to jazz up your cards and scrapbook pages? They add flair without a lot of work. This card is one that I made quickly, but it has different focal point that I created using the Diamond Folds #2 Template. I used DCWV Metallic Cardstock for the base of the card. Then I took a piece of matching patterned paper and simply traced a diamond fold pattern onto the front of the paper. Then, using a craft knife, I cut the pattern. Before I folded the diamond shapes back, I inked the white side of the paper with a silver ink pad before folding the cut diamond folds back. I give these templates five stars! They're becoming favorites of mine. You can get one here: http://www.dinglefoot.com/store-products-7312-Diamond-Folds-2-Template_40934364.html

Here's an easy greeting card to make!

I just love getting a handmade card. It makes me feel like someone really card to go the extra mile just for me. Now you can do the same with this easy "Thinking of You" card. It's easy and fast and you can use supplies that you have to substitute for the things I used.
This is a very fast card to make, but it's simplicity makes a statement. You will need:
INSTRUCTIONS:
Using beige card stock, make an A4 card with the fold at the top.
Cut a piece of dark red card stock slightly smaller than the front of your beige card.
Cut a piece of beige patterned paper slightly smaller than the dark red card stock.
Adhere the beige patterned panel to the dark red card stock panel, centering it.
Tie a length of beige satin ribbon around the dark red and beige patterned paper panel. Place the ribbon towards the top 1/3 of your card and knot it.
Punch a scalloped circle out of the dark red card stock with the 2" circle scallop punch. Punch a 1.5" circle scallop out of the beige patterned paper (or out of a piece of beige card stock as I did).
Using the Birds Galore bottom stamp, ink just the bird and a couple of the flowers. Wipe away any unwanted ink from the stamp with an old rag or paper towel. Stamp the bird onto the beige scallop.
Glue the two scallops together with a glue stick, or to pop them off the page, add a pop dot under each layer and stick the scallops onto the satin ribbon towards the left side of your card.
Stamp a sentiment to the lower right side of your card with black ink, then quickly pour embossing powder over the ink while it's still wet. Shake off the excess embossing powder. Warm the embossed area with your heat tool till it melts.
All done! This is an easy and fun card to send for any sort of greeting. It's nice for a thank you card, thinking of you, even a birthday.
To use supplies from your own home, try tracing around two different sized drinking glasses and make plain circles instead of scallops. For the bird image, use a sticker or maybe some other rubber stamp. Above all, have lots of fun crafting!
